Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – More than 2,000 jobs are to become available in the Riviera Maya over the next six months.
The Association of Hotels in the Riviera Maya began recruiting workers for the opening of two hosting centers, one that will open in December of this year and another in March of 2017. Between the two new hotel openings, 2,800 jobs will become available.
Jimena Farah Rojas, manager of Human Resources and Jobs for the Association of Hotels of the Riviera Maya said that the first hotel to open will be the new Ocean Riviera Paradise at Xcalacoco Beach. The second hotel scheduled to open in March of next year is Unico Riviera Maya, located south of Playa del Carmen.
The next scheduled job fair is October 7 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Association of Hotels located at Paseo Cobá on Calle 5 Sur Av. Aeropuerto Suite 316. This recruitment will be for the second hotel opening in March.
A recent job recruitment in Cancun saw more than 590 people show up, breaking the previous record of 200. Fedra Illescas Camargo, director of Servicio Municipal del Empleo, said that of the seven years they’ve held the recruitment, the most that ever showed up was 200, however this year, more than 590 attended, leaving resumes in hopes of being selected for a job.
She explained that most people lined up for more than 30 minutes to hand over a resume, many of which were from perspectives with bachelors and masters degrees. She noted that about 15 percent of the applicants are hired.
Vacancies for this year’s Cancun job fair included 15 companies hiring operational, administrative, executive and managerial positions.
