Joaquin inaugurates Cancun Travel Mart 2021

Cancun, Q.R. — During the inauguration of the Cancun Travel Mart 2021 Summit, governor Carlos Joaquin stressed the importance of tourism for the state. During the opening, he said “little by little, we entered the new normal. We put the new normal into operation within the tourism industry.

“We named tourism as an essential activity even though nobody believed us, but that’s how it was and that helped us a lot to regain the recovery of our economy and above all, to achieve the confidence of investors, visitors and potential travelers.”

Joaquin stressed that Quintana Roo represents 13 percent of the hotel supply in Mexico and is in first place in hotel infrastructure and the generation of the foreign currency that the country receives from tourism.

He expressed today, even with the global Covid-19 challenges, the tourism industry is on its feet, but warned that there is still much to be done.

“We did what was necessary for the economic reactivation, the protection of employment, to help the family economy,” he said adding that the state has generated nearly 75,000 jobs during its last semester.
