Isla Mujeres docking tests successful for Xcaret passenger ferries

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Docking tests were carried out Wednesday at the Isla Mujeres fiscal dock without incident reported the Comprehensive Port Administration. The tests, which were for the new passenger ferry Xel-Ha, consisted of docking maneuvers, which were supervised by Guillermo Renteria Zúñiga.

Renteria Zúñiga says the vessel Xel-Ha, which is part of the Xcaret Group, has a 650-person passenger capacity. Tests were carried out Wednesday at the Isla Mujeres fiscal dock from 12:00 to 13:30 on the north side of the dock with several crew members inside.

He added that the practice runs were part of the preparations being made to assess maneuvers at the terminal.

Two ferry vessels, Xel-Ha and Xcaret, with a capacity for 352 passengers, arrived in Quintana Roo on July 9. He did not confirm if and / or when the vessels would be used locally for public passenger services at Isla Mujeres or on the Cozumel-Playa del Carmen route.
