Holbox, Q.R. — The town of Holbox was unanimously approved for inclusion into the Magic Town program for Mexico.
The island will be formally recognized as a Magic Town, which will provide the island with special promotions and other economic benefits.
Municipal president, Emilio Jiménez Ancona, reported that it is the second year that the island applied to compete for the status, but last year they were eliminated from the category.
He explained that last year, the island needed to correct some issues such as garbage collection, the cleaning of beaches and other urban image problems.
He said that they have since corrected the problems, and are now hoping to have an approved committee made up of those that live on the island.
