Interpol red notices sent out after ex-state officials

Cancun, Q.R. — Former state government officials of Quintana Roo are to be sought by Interpol.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has prepared red notices for Interpol to seek and detain former Roberto Borge Angulo administration officials since it has come to the attention of local authorities that they have been exiting the country.

Miguel Ángel Pech Cen, general state prosecutor, says that those wanted have been tracked entering and exiting Mexico. This has prompted state authorities to issue a red notice alert for each of the wanted, having Interpol search for and locate the former officials.

Pech Cen clarified that “Not all the former officials are located. In fact, they are the majority of the accused missing which is why they have had to make red notices, so that Interpol can help to stop them. They are working on that.”

He noted that some of the officials have resorted to the use of amparos, but all they do is litigate them — they are badly structured. Out of the 14 amparos between Cancun and Chetumal, one has been voided due to a falsified signature.

The recent arrest of the former prosecutor of the Ministry of Finance and Planning (Sefiplan), Victor Hugo Loyola Corona , was one of the warrants that had been pending from the first batch of complaints filed by the state government.

An Interpol red notice is the most significant of notices. An Interpol Red Notice is a request to seek the location and arrest of wanted persons with a view to extradition or similar lawful action.
