Installation of security poles in Cancun Hotel Zone nearing completion

Cancun, Q.R. — The installation of poles that will house security cameras throughout the Cancun Hotel Zone are nearing completion says the director of tourist police.

Carlos Bustos, head of the tourist police for the Cancun Hotel Zone says that nearly 90 poles are being installed around the hotel zone that, when finished, will provide the placements needed for the surveillance cameras to improve security.

Bustos explained that now, they are installing the poles which consist of a concrete base three meters deep and that they are strategically placing the poles in entrances and exit areas of the hotel zone. Once installed, the cameras will be manned through the Control, Command and Computing Center (C4) of Cancun.

“With this scheme we intend to have full control of Bulevard Kukulcán and prevent criminal acts along it,” he said.

He says the goal is to restore security in Cancun, adding that the cameras could be operational as early as December. He added that approximately 3,000 surveillance cameras are being installed throughout the state.
