Cancún, Q.R. — Indonesian businessmen met with their counterparts in Cancun to present their product and service proposals to the tourist industry of the Mexican Caribbean.
Ika Yulistyawati, representative of economic promotion of Indonesia, said that the meeting was a first rapprochement between the two countries. She said Cancun was chosen as the venue due to the importance it has on an international tourism level.
Yulistyawati explained that during the meeting, Quintana Roo businessmen showed interest in various products and services including beauty products, spa services and ornamental furniture. She also said that the products and services offered by Indonesian businessmen are in line with the needs of the tourist destination.
She added that the meet was also used to invite Mexicans to the Trade Expo Indonesia, running from October 24 to 28 of this year.
“We believe that by visiting our land and knowing our products and services in person, it will be much easier to establish a relationship of trust and do business,” she said.
She noted that the trend of trade between Indonesia and Mexico decreased by 0.4 percent from 2013 to 2017, however, there was a recovery of just over 20 percent between 2016 and last year.
