In March, Cancun International to see more flights from Spain, Portugal

Cancun, Q.R. — As of March 8, the restructured airline Iberojet will begin arriving in Cancun from Madrid. Darío Flota Ocampo, head of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo explained “we had already announced that on March 8, the flight from Madrid with airline Evelop of Grupo Barceló will arrive.

“Another airline division of theirs called Orbest that flies from Portugal, will arrive at the end of the month, both airlines that were owned by Iberojet. Now within their transformations, they will once again use the name that was encompassed in Iberworld.”

He added that the family sold Evelop Air but maintained operation of the hotels and now, Evelop and Orbest are returning to take the name Iberojet. “There will be a reception on March 8 for travelers arriving on this flight, which will be Airbus 350 and which will be the first flight from Spain to arrive,” he said.

According to Flota Ocampo, TAP Air Portugal will also begin landing at Cancun International March 27, at which time they will offer three flights per week. Frontier announced new routes to Cancun from Miami starting March 7, with five flights a week, and from Cincinnati, starting March 13, every Saturday.

Southwest will begin daily flights from Phoenix to Cancun on March 11. Direct American flights into Cozumel will also resume March 11, with daily Southwest flights from Houston.
