Illinois man arrested in Cancun, extradited back to United States

Cancún, Q. R. — An American man has been sent back to the United States after being arrested in Cancun Wednesday.

The Attorney General’s Office, through International Affairs, says that a man identified as Raymundo “B” was arrested by agents of the Federal Ministerial Police without incident in Cancun Wednesday. The American was wanted by the Federal District Court of the Northern District of the state of Illinois for the crime of electronic fraud.

Authorities say Rayumudo “B” was on Interpol’s list. The Criminal Investigation Agency learned of his whereabouts and requested the arrest and extradition from Mexico back to the United States.

Raymundo “B” was taken into custody without incident. He will face a judge in an Illinois court room for fraud charges.
