Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — The eviction of an illegal settlement was dismantled in the community of Puerto Aventuras Tuesday after police removed more than 30 illegal settlers.
The eviction took place at the irregular settlement of Las Palmas de Puerto Aventuras after nearly three years of living on the private land. More than 50 police were sent to the settlement to evict those living there.
One of the illegal women living on the land said, “We have not legalized it yet, but we have been there for two years and eight months.
“I work 12 hours in a store. We never agreed to take the other lands because they were going to harm us and now they do not they let me into the house. There are my things.”
Police arrested 15 people of the settlers. Several dozen officers remained on the property to avoid them returning.
