Cancun, Q.R. — More than 1,200 military personnel have arrived at Cancun, some by air, others by land with more arriving daily.
On Sunday alone, 1,200 military personnel arrived in Cancun to take their post in the new barracks in the continental zone of Isla Mujeres. The base of the Tenth Brigade of the Military Police went into operation to add additional security to the region.
Military members arrived in two contingents, one of which consisted of more than 600 soldiers who arrived by land in 17 vehicles. The vehicles were carrying not only passengers, but also cargo and equipment meant for the base.
Another 600 arrived via the Cancun International Airport where later, military transport vehicles arrived to take them to the new barracks. Additional military personnel will continue to arrive by air and land over the next week to reach the population estimate of 3,200 personnel before the official inauguration of the new barracks on October 9.
