Human trafficking operation implemented at Cancun International Airport

Cancún, Q.R. — A special operation has been implemented at the Cancun International Airport to detect human trafficking.

Members of the federal police have implemented a special surveillance operation in the international airport of Cancun to detect possible cases of illegal human trafficking. The operation involves joint actions of inspection, security and surveillance with personnel of the anti-drug division, federal forces, Gendarmerie, intelligence and regional security.

Police are paying particular attention to flights known for human trafficking, in particular, people from India, China, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Guatemala and El Salvador are considered vulnerable groups.

The National Migration Institute (INM) and Interpol are also participating in the federal operation at the Cancun airport as more than 350 flights land per day from around the world.
