Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Due to failure to comply with state laws, Civil Protection has suspended the construction work of the The Fives hotel at Puerto Morelos.
Guillermo Morales, director of Civil Protection, confirmed that the company failed to comply with safety and security laws for its workers, a situation they had already been warned about. A fine of an undisclosed amount will be required before the work can continue.
At the end of May, residents of Puerto Morelos protested the construction of the hotel saying not only have they devastated flora and fauna, but that the hotel was being built in an area that lacked proper waste removal facilities.
