Hotel guest finds body at bottom of Tulum pool

Tulum, Q.R. — The body of a man was reported at the bottom of a swimming pool at a hotel in Tulum. A guest from the 10th Street hotel called Emergency 911 around 6:50 a.m. Friday, after discovering the body at the bottom of the pool.

Police responded to the call in La Veleta neighborhood, as did other emergency personnel. The call was made to Emergency 911 by a guest of the hotel, 57-year-old Hernan N of New York. The unidentified body was removed from the pool and confirmed deceased.

The hotel said the deceased man had arrived with another person, however, the second person had already left the hotel. The identity of the deceased man was not immediately known since the room was rented in the second person’s name. An autopsy is scheduled. The State Attorney General’s Office continues to investigate.
