Cancun, Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Weather for Cancun and Riviera Maya this long holiday December weekend is forecast to be hot and sunny with a high UV Index of 6 which means a high risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure.
Limit sun exposure to 11-32 minutes. Apply skin protection factor (SPF) 30+ and wear protective clothing such as a hat and UV-A&B sunglasses because temperatures for Cancun are expected to hover around 27C (80F) for a daytime high with nighttime lows of 22C (71F).
For Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen will see much of the same with the exception of slightly higher daytime temperatures. For the weekend of December 23, Playa del Carmen will reach 29C (84F) during the day hours with a low of 20C (68F) during the night.
According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), a slight sea breeze is expected for both regions with easterly winds of 15 to 30 kph.
Most of the Yucatan region is forecast to experience hot daytime temperatures with minimal clouds and a slight breeze.
