Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Hundreds of cheering fans stood in line for nearly three hours on Thursday to witness a live production of their favorite television show, Soy Luna.
Filmed live in Playa del Carmen’s famous Founders Park, the Disney production team stopped by to record a scene for an upcoming show. Children waited behind lines for a chance at an autograph when actors took breaks in between scenes.
Soy Luna is about a young Mexican girl who is swept away to start a new life in Argentina after her parents are offered new jobs. The young person’s show is one of the most watched in Latin America. The program has been awarded “World’s Best TV and Film 2017 — International TV and Film Awards Competition” in New York.
The scenes shot in Playa del Carmen will be released in 2018 as part of the show’s third season. Soy Luna has moved to other areas of the state to continue filming.
Soy Luna is an Argentine telenovela produced by Disney Channel Latin America. Developed by Disney Channel Latin America and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the series stars Karol Sevilla along with Ruggero Pasquarelli. It premiered on March 14, 2016.
