High speed crash along Costa Maya roadway turns car into heap of metal

Costa Maya, Q.R. — Four people were seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash along a Costa Maya roadway. The accident was reported Thursday morning on a section of road that leads to the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto located just south of Tulum.

The high speed highway crash involved an SUV and a Volvo car. The SUV was a right-off with the entire front smashed in, while the Volvo car was turned into a heap of scrap metal.

At the scene, the driver of the Volvo reported his passenger as missing. Police and paramedics arrived to deal with the situation that left the highway closed. Four people were taken to hospital in serious condition.
