Cancun, Q.R. — Head of public security for the state says that the recent arrest of five individuals in Cancun is considered a great success.
Police arrested five heavily armed individuals after a police unit was attacked while performing routine security surveillance of a residential Cancun neighborhood. Alberto Capella Ibarra, head of public security for Quintana Roo, says that the arrests were a great success.
In an official statements, Capella said “Thanks to the new security strategy that’s been implemented, at dawn was the arrest of five men in possession of high caliber firearms and various ammunition who apparently are linked to organized crime.
“During the confrontation a partner was injured by glass fragments, his health is not serious and he is receiving medical attention. Facts and the detainees are being presented before the public prosecutor’s office.
My recognition of the great work goes to the municipal and state police who risked their lives during this remarkable detention, as well as the immediate supportive reaction of the military and federal forces. United, we are invincible.”
The arrest of the five was made during early morning hours after a police unit was shot at and hit. The shooting led to a street chase that ended with five suspects being taken into custody in Region 253 of Cancun. The group was found carry numerous firearms and radio equipment.
