Cancun, Q.R. — Gulf Oil Limited Partnership has announced they will be opening a gas station in the city of Cancun, making it their third along the Yucatan Peninsula.
The new gas station is part of an expansion to offer different gasoline brands in the country. The US company says they will open their first Cancun gas station on Avenida Luis Donaldo Colosio near Parque Tecnológico.
Gulf recently opened two stations in Mérida where they announced they would continue expanding, opening stations in Quintana Roo and Campeche.
Marco Erosa Cárdenas of the National Chamber of Commerce says the American brand has been working with a corporate and technological development company since 2016 to be able to distribute in other parts of the country.
“A company from Cancun is creating all the software for its operations in the stations in Puebla, Mexico City, Monterrey, to name a few,” he added.
While the price will be basically the same, Gulf claims the gas is better.
General Manager Sergio de la Vega said that Gulf Premium gasoline is treated with Liquid Plus nanotechnology that the company claims make engines 25 percent more efficient. He also says the Liquid Plus formula is more environmentally friendly since it reduces polluting emissions.
With the opening of Gulf, consumers now have three brands which include OXXO, La Gas and Pemex, however, Petróleos Mexicanos still carries out the logistics.
Gulf says after Qintana Roo, they will open additional gas stations in Campeche.
