Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The government of Solidaridad says they are ready for the arrival of national and international tourists for the upcoming holiday season.
Government officials say Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras are ready to receive the 770,000 anticipated visitors for the Christmas season which will generate a hotel occupancy rate of around 95 percent.
In a statement, the head of Civil Protection Orlando Muñoz Gómez, stressed that in coordination with federal and state agencies, they have met and implemented safety plans for both tourists and residents of the municipality.
“The following days will begin the arrival of national and foreign tourists, so it is necessary to reinforce safety with the presence of extra personnel on the roads, beaches and in the tourist areas,” he said.
He said that 80 elements of the General Directorate of Civil Protection as well as the armed forces of the National Defense Secretariat, the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico, the Federal Police , the Gendarmerie and the Mexican Red Cross have all come together to provide orientation, help or assistance to vacationers.
Visitors for the upcoming season are expected to begin arriving over the next week or two, which will start the Cancun, Riviera Maya busy season that will last well into next year, as tourists arrive for New Year, Spring Break and summer vacation.
