General manager of ferry terminal dispels rumors of crossing price hike

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The general manager of the Playa del Carmen ferry terminal says that there are no plans to increase ferry rates between the mainland and Cozumel and dispels any rumors to the contrary.

Alejandro Morfín, general manager of the maritime terminal says that the current rates published for the crossing between Playa del Carmen and the island of Cozumel are the only rates, dispelling rumors that a price increase was in the works.

He says the attention given to a possible price hike was pure speculation, and adds that the prices for both Barcos México and Barcos Ultramar remain.

He added that they are, however, waiting notification of the resumption of the ferry services for Barcos Caribe, which belongs to the father of the former governor of Quintana Roo, Roberto Borge Angulo and was recently placed out of service after an accident claimed one boat and two others were found operating without permits.
