Fruit truck found carrying packages of heroin bound for Tijuana

Opodepe, Sonora — The inspection of a large semi rig led police to the discovery of multiple packages of heroin in the southwestern state of Sonora.

Elements of the State Public Security Police, along with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), detained a driver who was transporting drugs hidden in a semi truck transporting fruit.

Authorities were performing random vehicle inspections at the Querobabi Strategic Review Point when they stopped the large semi. The unit, which was driven by Henry “N”, was arrested after an inspection of his vehicle led to the discovery of fruit as well as a prefabricated compartment loaded with multiple package of heroin.

The 10 packages of drugs were found wrapped inside adhesive tape. The unit was heading to Tijuana after having left Nayarit.
