Fractured knee gets American woman evacuated from cruise ship

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An American woman with an exposed fracture to her left knee was removed from a cruise ship by Navy of Mexico medical personnel after the medical evacuation request from the ship’s captain.

La Secretaría de Marina-Armada de México says a female passenger from the Norwegian Dawn cruise ship was evacuated and taken to a Cancun hospital for treatment after the request for help. Navy personnel met the cruise ship approximately three nautical miles (5.5 kilometers) north of Isla Mujeres.

The 72-year-old American woman was taken aboard their vessel and transported to a waiting ambulance at the Naval Station of Puerto Juárez where she was taken to hospital for specialized medical care.
