Fourth Tulum beach sweep in two weeks gets another 12 jailed for drugs and weapons

Tulum, Q.R. – Another police operation in Tulum has lead to the arrest of 12 people. For the fourth time in less than a month, authorities have swept the coastal areas of Tulum in search of drug dealers and weapons.

Their latest beach sweep saw 12 more sent to jail on drug and weapon related charges. On Friday night in four operations, 11 men and one woman were arrested. A variety of narcotics and weapons were also seized.

The agency said they found over 1,900 street doses of illegal narcotic substances between the 12 detained. They also found loaded weapons, one of which had the serial number filed off.

It is the fourth time in two weeks that police have swept the coastal area in search of illegal activity. On February 27, two Americans were arrested on weapons charges. On March 2, 17 were jailed on drug and weapons charges and again on March 8, four more men from the coastal area of Tulum were jailed on drug distribution charges.
