Four alleged gang members arrested in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police have arrested four people they say are related to a local criminal group.

Due to the high rate of crime, multiple levels of police have continued to monitor the most troubled areas of the city of Cancun. In a joint operation, municipal police along with the Fuerza de Reacción Inmediata Mixta arrested four alleged members of a criminal group in Region 251 of the city of Cancun.

At a checkpoint, the municipal police apprehended the four alleged gang members of Los Pelones, a group thought responsible for many of the recent shootings in Cancun.

Along with their arrest, police seized two firearms, a pistol and a submachine gun which they found inside a backpack in the trunk of a car.

Unofficially, the detainees were identified as 30-year-old Jesús Armando NO, Carlos Santiago RM, 33 years old, Ángel Ivan LC, 21 and Juan Antonio UF, 34.

All four were taken to the facilities of the Municipal Secretary of Public Security to be presented before the Federal Public Ministry for the corresponding procedures.
