Former Subway guy, Jared Fogle, arrested for child porn

As part of a plea deal, former Subway guy, 37-year-old Jared Fogle, has agreed to plead guilty to child pornography charges. He has also agreed to plead guilty to crossing state lines to pay for sex with minors.

U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler said in an Indianapolis intreview, that Fogle “has notified the court that he intends to plead guilty.” The prosecutor described the case as a “five-year criminal scheme to exploit children.”

In all, pornographic images of 14 children were found in Fogle’s possession. The court still has yet to approve the plea deal agreement in which Fogle is to plead guilty to possessing and distributing child pornography as well as traveling across state lines to have sex with underage girls.

In exchange, both prosecutors and defendants have requested that Fogle receive no more than 13 years and no less than five years in prison.

The plea deal, which was filed in court on Wednesday, will also include the payment of restitution to each of the victims. Each of his 14 victims will receive $100,000 for support, counseling and other assistance.

Court documents show that Fogle’s charges are related to his coworker, Russell C. Taylor, who was the executive director of the Jared Foundation. Taylor was arrested more than two months ago on federal child pornography charges. The charges of child porn date back from between 2011 and 2015 when records were found of Taylor sending Fogle pornographic images of minors. The videos and images were taken via secret cameras in Taylor’s home.

The charges on paying minors for sex stem back from between 2010 and 2013 when Fogel traveled from Indiana to New York to have sex with teenaged girls.

There is no set date for Fogle’s next court appearance which is when he will formally enter a change of plea. Fogle’s wife, Katie, has applied for dissolution of the marriage. They have a son and daughter together.
