Chetumal, Q.R. — A judge has sentenced a former police officer to more than 43 years in prison.
The heavy sentence was handed down Wednesday to a former member of the State Public Security Police. Former officer, Ramón Fernando Caamal Hernández, was sentence to 43 years and nine months in prison for the murder of his wife, Alejandrina MH.
Along with his prison sentence, Caamal Hernández was also fined more than 198,000 peso, plus an additional 382,000 peso for damages suffered to a minor as a victim of his crime along with 124,000 peso for the reparation of the quantitative and qualitative damage.
Through a statement, the Special Prosecutor for the Care of Crimes against Women and for Gender Reasons confirmed the sentence against Ramón Fernando Caamal Hernández. He was sentenced in a court in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco and was given the highest sentence in the state for the crime of feminicide.
The Attorney General of the state says that through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Attention of Crimes against Women it has already handed out four sentence for the crime of feminicide in less than one year.
