Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – The former mayor of Solidaridad, Mauricio Góngora, is under investigation for allegedly receiving 200 million peso from former state governor, Roberto Borge Angulo.
Several signed and dated documents have been found that show a financial deviation of public resources by Borge to Góngora for 200 million to help support his campaign. According to Sin Embargo, the documents detail the surrender of resources by the former deputy finance secretary, Eliezer Villanueva Lanz, one of the main operators of the former governor. At least nine diversions were made over a three-month period in the amounts of 20 million and 50 million peso.
La Fepade (Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Electoral Crimes) and FGE have decided to investigate the former mayor for alleged deviation of public resources.
