Ford Mexico fined for lack of environmental certifications

Mexico City, D.F. — The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) has announced that Ford Motor Company of Mexico has been fined 18 million peso for selling 4,000 vehicles that lacked environmental certificates.

In a statement given by Profepa, they said that “a fine was imposed for each of the vehicles not certified before being  imported and / or marketed as 2015 and 2016 Ford and Lincoln brand vehicles.”

In February, Volkswagen was fined $8.9 million for selling more than 45,000 imported vehicles in Mexico without environmental certificates.
