Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Head of the National Fund for Tourism for the state of Quintana Roo says that the organization is working on a project that will see the creation of nautical routes from Isla Mujeres to Mahahual.
Juan Emmanuel González Castelán, delegate of the National Fund for Tourism Promotion (Fonatur) in Quintana Roo, says that they are working on a project to link all marinas along the coast in such a way that tourists can boat tour from Isla Mujeres, Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum, to Mahahual and vice versa.
“The nautical association is already working to make the nautical routes from Isla Mujeres to Mahahual,” he explained adding “The issue of ships and navy is a priority with investors already underway since everyone else sees that it is possible.”
He says for years, authorities have sought to finalize the project of a “nautical ladder” without success even though the project already has the required infrastructure, capacity for large vessels and trained personnel.
