Florida to Mexico regatta race completed by all

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. – The annual regatta race from Florida to Isla Mujeres, Mexico has ended with After You being the overall winner.

Over the past few days, regatta participants begun arriving at their final destination in Mexico, the island of Isla Mujeres just off the shores of Cancun. Boat captains and their crew set sail on April 22 from St. Petersburg, Florida bound for Isla Mujeres, Mexico in the 48th edition of Sun of the Sun regatta race.

On Monday, boats Azzurra, After You and Split Decision, commanded by John Hamm, were the first to arrive. Throughout Tuesday, Lucky Jack, Severance, Tatto and Cat Trax made their way to the island while Wednesday saw the arrival of Geodesic, Blue Heron and Midnight Sun. The vessel, After You, captained by John Garner was presented with the winner’s trophy by Isla Mujeres Yacht Club president, Enrique Lima Zuno.

The event will carry on, beginning a new course on May 10 at New Orleans and ending at Pensacola.
