Five to remain behind bars after being arrested in Cancun for extortion

Cancun, Q.R. — Five men who made their first court appearance will remain behind bars while their trial advances. In a press release, the FGE reported that the five men arrested for the extortion of tourist service providers in the Cancun Hotel Zone will remain locked up.

The five Jaime S, Gerardo G, Carlos A, Edwin S and Roberto R, have been charged with extortion to the detriment of two people. Both are tourist service providers in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The FGE says the five men demanded money from both individuals to allow them to continue working tourist activities along Boulevard Kukulcán.

The FGE did not provide details as to how much money the five demanded or how long the two individuals were extorted.
