Five killed in plane crash heading to Acapulco

Madero , Michoacán — Five people have been reported killed after a plane crashed Wednesday afternoon in the community of Las Juntas in the staet of Michoacán.

Local and state authorities moved to the scene to deploy a rescue operation after the light aircraft crashed nose-first into a river. La Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) of Michoacán reported that the aircraft apparently came from Durango and was headed to Acapulco, Guerrero at the time of the accident.

“Personnel of the State Attorney General’s Office moved to the vicinity of the community of Las Juntas in the municipality of Madero to carry out rescue actions in an aircraft accident with a preliminary figure of 5 people killed,” said the Prosecutor’s Office of Michoacán.

He indicated that rescue efforts were being deployed with help from Coordinación Estatal de Protección Civil. There were no reports on possible causes of the accident.
