Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Five people will remain imprisoned after a judge found them connected to an extortion attempt on a Playa del Carmen business.
The five, four men and one woman, were arrested May 4 after a business on Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen reported them for extortion.
The State Attorney General’s Office says that Rubén “N”, Jasmine “N”, Santiago “N”, Gerardo “N” and Francisco “N” will continue to remain in prison during the time of the investigation and trial. The request for their preventative detention was made at the request of the judge.
Police say it will be another month before all investigatory research is complete. The five were arrested after a business said they requested “rights” money.
