Five arrested after Playa del Carmen neighbors report gunfire

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Five people were arrested in Playa del Carmen Thursday after they were found carrying firearms.

The State Attorney General’s Office reports the arrest of five people for carrying prohibited weapons. The five were arrested in the irregular colony of In-House in the far west region of Playa del Carmen.

On Thursday, Emergency 911 received a call that five people riding in a Jeep were firing shots in the residential neighborhood. Ministerial police set up a search and location operation to find the vehicle, which resulted in the capture of four men and one woman.

The arrested were Juan N, Adrian N, Alejandro N, Josué N and Paola N. Police say they were arrested after being found in possession of a government-issued gun and cartridges along with several other weapons. They were also found in possession of marijuana and cocaine.

In a statement, the State Attorney’s Office said police continue to investigate and collect evidence to verify the allegations regarding the 911 call.
