Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A shop along Avenida 10 and Calle 3 Sur in Playa del Carmen centro caught fire Friday.
A Japanese shop, Mini So, was reported to Emergency officials after it caught fire. Due to its location, three fire trucks were dispatched as well as transit and Civil Protection agents along with tourist police.
The fire ended with several boxes of merchandise, mainly shoes, being burned along with other minor damage to the inside of the shop.
The shop is located near the entrance to Playacar. The three firetrucks along with other emergency vehicles, caused a great deal of traffic chaos to an already congested area after temporarily closing road access.
There were no reports of injuries. Unofficially, the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit.
