Firemen respond to call of crocodile in Tulum hotel pool

Tulum, Q.R. — Assistance from elements of the Tulum fire department was requested at a hotel after staff spotted a crocodile sleeping at the bottom of their pool. The unusual incident happened Monday when staff from the Maria del Mar Tulum hotel made the Emergency 911 call around 5:00 a.m. explaining they had a crocodile on site.

Firemen responded to the request for help in removing the unwanted hotel guest. According hotel manager Nust Negui Quintana, staff at the hotel found the small crocodile at the bottom of the pool. Tulum firemen were successful in removing the reptile from the water.

It was handed over to the corresponding environmental authorities for relocation. Exactly where the reptile came from remains a mystery since Negui Quintana says there are no nearby lagoons.
