FGR destroys armored monster trucks used by Mexican cartels

Reynosa, Tamaulipas — In coordination with the Army, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) says they have destroyed 10 armored vehicles. The “monsters”, they said, were used by cartel members of criminal groups operating in the country.

The 10 units were related to 12 organized crime investigations by the FGR in Tamaulipas. The Fiscalía General de la República FGR said that all 10 were outfitted with homemade armor meant to repel attacks.

The vehicles destroyed belonged to various cells of the Noreste and Golfo cartels, both of whom operate in the Mexico-U.S. border city of Reynosa, a situation that creates territorial disputes for the trafficking of drugs, weapons and people, among other illicit activities.
