FGE raids Cancun’s Playa Tortugas day after deadly shooting

Cancun, Q.R. — On Saturday, 150 police arrived at Playa Tortugas where they seized illegally placed beach kiosks and furniture for the restitution of public spaces.

In a press release, the Attorney General said police arrived around 6:00 a.m. where they proceeded to remove unauthorized furniture from the beach’s public areas. They also insured three establishments, they said, that did not have the proper corresponding licenses.

The seizure came the day after two people were killed and another wounded on the busy Cancun Hotel Zone beach. On Friday, two men were gunned down in the small shopping area of Playa Tortugas. During that shooing, a female tourist was injured.
