Feds seize three separate drug shipments at Cancun Airport

Cancun, Q.R. — The Secretariat of Public Safety and Protection has reported the seizure of several shipments of illegal drugs by Cancun Federal Police Friday.

According to information provided by the Quintana Roo State Coordination of the federal agency, when conducting random inspections, police secured more than 51,000 prescription pills being shipped without the necessary license.

The prescription drugs were found distributed within four cardboard boxes with a total of 51,300 tablets of controlled medication of different brands including Alrozolam, Phentermine, Clonazepam, Fenproporex and Clobenzorex.

Federal Police also seized two shipments of marijuana, one of which was a white cardboard box containing just over two kilos of pot. The second box was found containing over four kilos of marijuana and was being sent out of the city with a destination address in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas.

All three were seized and made available to the State Attorney General’s office based in Cancun.
