Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection has imposed a Temporary Total Closure of the construction and activities for Hotel Mahekal Beach Resort after they were found in violation federal rules.
The inspection and subsequent closure was in response to citizen complaints. In a statement, Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente says environmental officials carried out an inspection on the development site of Hotel Mahekal Beach Resort to verify that the current federal environmental legislation is being complied with.
During their inspection, several irregularities were observed including construction or rehabilitation of property surpassing the original authorized area as well as improper design and construction.
For these reasons, officers imposed a Temporary Total Closure of the work and activities due to their inspection report.
