Federal officers incinerate drugs, criminal objects including cell phones

Cancun, Q.R. — A fire to destroy drugs and confiscated criminal weapons was set in Cancun Friday by state officials.

In a public report, the Attorney General of the Republic through the Delegation in Quintana Roo, carried out the incineration and destruction of narcotics and objects of crime collected during the month of October at the Military Garrison of Cancun.

The attorney general says that officials destroyed trimetoxifenetilamina, clonazepam, methylenedioxyamphetamine hydrochloride, cannabis and poppy seeds along with 27 kilos of cocaine, 59 kilos of marijuana and 45 kilos of methamphetamine.

In the incineration, federal officers also destroyed 12 objects of crime including cell phones. The incineration of criminal material is a regulated event witnessed by agents of the Public Ministry of the Federation.

On hand for verification are also members of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and personnel of the Internal Control Body of the PGR.

The office of the attorney general says that the narcotics and objects were seized in the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Solidaridad, Othón P. Blanco and Cozumel and were related to various preliminary inquiries, criminal cases and investigation files.
