Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Civil Protection of Solidaridad says they are planning to strengthen safety with airport activity companies, such as skydiving.
Juan Carlos Media Sosa, director of the municipal agency, says that they are going to work toward having a closer operational relationship with the airport authorities of Playa del Carmen as well as the two companies that offer parachuting jumps.
He explained that they will urge companies SkydiveMex and Skydive Playa to conduct comprehensive reviews of equipment to avoid a repeat of the accident that occurred recently that resulted in the death of a tourist.
“Yes, we will be visiting them to make the pertinent recommendations by Civil Protection, although it must be emphasized that the allegedly failed equipment was the property of the deceased.
“We are going to visit the two companies and the airfield so that we can be in contact during all the activities they carry out, especially now that the summer season of 2018 is coming,” he explained.
The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reported that the Guatemalan man who died last week in a parachute jump has been identified as 48-year-old Juan Carlos N. An investigation into his death found that he used his own equipment for the jump and that his death was the result of a miscalculation.
