Cancun, Q.R. — A meeting with taxi union officials Friday resulted in a sketch of two men being released.
Executives of the taxi union say they have 30 cases in the city of Cancun of pseudo-taxi drivers assaulting and raping women. They say that the pair, two men believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30, have cloned a car to look like a current taxi. They are organized in that one driver collects the passenger and drives while the second assaults and rapes victims.
A notice has been released, warning citizens to use caution when flagging down a taxi. Police have released a hand-drawn sketch of the men, warning the public that the men appear to be working from Plaza las America, Huayacan and Chedraui Coba.
The public is asked to contact authorities if they see the men or the vehicle, to write down the plate number, to help with their capture.
