Cancun, Q.R. — Paula Guadalupe González Zetina, former director of the Potable Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA), was arrested Tuesday for irregularities of more than one million peso.
In September, González Zetina was ordered to attend a first judicial hearing in regards to the irregularities of the money involving the CAPA concession, however, she failed to appear.
A warrant for her arrest was issued. She was taken into custody Tuesday after going to the prosecutor’s office to make a statement regarding the deviation of the money.
Paula González was the general director of CAPA from December 2013 to November 2015.
During the time she was at the head of the organization, the Government of Roberto Borge extended the concession in favor of Aguakan the potable water systems for Isla Mujeres and Benito Juárez and granted it the operation throughout the Playa del Carmen network.
For these concessions Aguakan was paid, but the resources did not appear in the coffers according to the audits carried out by the government of Carlos Joaquin. For this reason, Paula González was criminally denounced.
In November, she was scheduled to again appear in the Prosecutor’s Office to testify, but last minute canceled.
When the former official arrived at the latest meeting Tuesday, she was informed that she was being detained.
