Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – An animal fundraiser is being held on July 5 in Playa del Carmen to help feed local Street animals.
The event, Mi Amigo de la Calle (My friend of the Street), will be collecting food (croquettes) to help feed the cats and dogs that live on the streets. This event is in its third year.
Mi Amigo de la Calle will be held on July 5 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at La Ceiba park in Playa del Carmen. In the park, attendees can participate in several informative workshops on how to care for pets.
Laura Reyes Rendon, event organizer, said that the two previous events exceeded their target in raising food for the street animals and she hopes that this year, they will meet their target since the amount needed is larger.
“This food is distributed among several associations dedicated to the rescue of dogs and cats, as well as independent rescuers, since many of these organizations are supported by their own resources,” she said.
Renden says that everyone is invited to join in and make a contribution of food for rescued animals. Associations that benefit from this program include the Municipal Center for Animal Welfare (Cebiam) and Animal Cocos Welfare Playa del Carmen, as well as independent rescuers in the city and surrounding areas.
