England red lists Mexican travelers as of August 8

Mexico City, Mexico — Non-British or non-Irish travelers entering England from Mexico will be turned away. As of August 8, UK officials say they will red list Mexico after its increase in covid-19 cases.

The rapid spread of the Delta variant of Covid-19 has prompted some countries to rethink their sanitary filters and restrictions. Travelers from Georgia and Mayotte will also have to obey the rules that British authorities have established for countries on the Covid-19 red list.

According to the UK government website, people who have been to a red-listed country or territory in the last 10 days will only be able to enter the UK if they are a British or Irish citizen, or if they have rights to residence in its territory.

Authorities specify that the rules will have to be followed even if the traveler complies with the full anti-Covid vaccination scheme. For those cases, travelers must submit a negative Covid-19 test performed three days before the trip.

Upon arrival in British territory, travelers will have to comply with a 10-day quarantine and will have to undergo a further Covid-19 test eight days later. People under the age of 18 who comply with the full vaccination plan will not have to quarantine.

Countries such as Bahrain, India, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will become part of the amber list. In turn, Austria, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia go to the list of countries in green.
