Employee bus catches fire outside Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A bus carrying hotel employees to their place of work caught fire Sunday morning while traveling along the Federal 307 Highway.

The bus, which was traveling along the Playa del Carmen-Tulum section, began to burn around 7:30 a.m. The driver, along with all his passengers, managed to flee from the bus before it fully ignited.

Firefighters and police were quick to the scene where firemen were successful in extinguishing flames, however, the bus had already burned. The 31-year-old bus driver told police that a short circuit in the motor cables at the rear of the unit caused the fire.

No injuries were reported.
