Electronic music festival shut down amid covid pandemic

Tulum, Q.R. — Federal officials shut down an electronic music festival taking place in a jungle area in the municipality of Tulum. The illegal event was discovered with approximately 1,500 people attending.

Federal officials found the event in a remote jungle area along the highway toward the town of Cobá. Feds made their presence known and evicted those on site due to covid health protocols.

Municipal and state police along withe elements from the National Guard and personnel from the city of Tulum as well as Cofepris, Sefiplan and Civil Protection ordered the eviction while closing the property and seizing event gear.

One person alleged responsible for hosting the event was taken into custody. The gathering of mass events remains prohibited due to the pandemic situation and state epidemiological light.
