Drunk driver crashes into local convenience store with tourist service van

Playa del Carmen, Q. R. – A drunk driver behind the wheel of a tourist van crashed into a local convenience store in Playa del Carmen.

The man, who refused to give his name, had just finished a tour when he lost control of his vehicle.

The van was traveling at excessive speeds when the driver lost control. Due to the glass façade of the convenience store, the store was deemed destroyed with an estimated 120,000 peso in damages.

According to police, the driver was behind the wheel of a white Toyota van used for tourist services. He was on Boulevard Playa del Carmen when he skidded on the wet pavement, lost control and slammed into the business.

The area was cordoned off.

The driver was given a breathalyzer test and was found to exceed the local limit. The results were certified by a doctor before he was transported to the Public Ministry.

The van was towed to the pound where it will remain until the owner claims it and ensures payment and repair of all damages.
